Is there documentation on how to add the CSS file to my theme? In the drop down menu for custom, I am not sure on how to name my CSS file to customize it.
Thank you! It’s a GREAT module! We’re looking for Simplemenu 6.0 in Drupal6.x.
It’s lovely!
Ted, this looks fantastic! The blog is a lot easier to read :). Nice work. Hope your travels out West are going well.
Thanks for nice feedback guys! The note about the 6 warnings with the <span> tags. Should be fixed now, let me know if it’s still appearing though :)
I like the new design, but then the old one was pretty nice too. The best thing is how you’ve avoided cluttering up the sidebar. There’s nothing worse than a whole lot of widget junk littering up the sidebar.
Every time someone relaunches with a new theme I feel guilty that I still haven’t found the time to move away from the stock Zen template.
Nice and clean. I like it.
your new theme looks and works clear, crisp and spacey -tested on mac/safari/camino/firefox/shiira. no errors just 6 warnings with ‘missing </span> around' < span class="terms">
your take on blueprint sounds great, looking forward for the release.
Believe it or not I have never seen a rainbow in my life even tough I am not that young anymore… Great picture :)
Can’t wait for the write up. As I’m hoping to create a drupal powered website for my local pub – love the clean design of those two uncorked guys.
Nate, indeed! I certainly think there are viable times when Extlink with a full JS solution is better than a filter system approach. Good to see people have 2 solid options depending on their needs and what they are trying to accomplish :)
Looks good Ted! I didn’t know you had a module that did this way back in 4.7 days! The javascript External Links module was mostly a proof of concept when it started (a jjeff experiment). But now I’ve grown to like it so much that I use it all the time. It gets points for ease of use, but it’s good to see there’s an efficient alternative for a site serious about it’s external linking.
Thanks, I like this module, it makes administration easy, and you don’t have to put the admin menu into the sidebar.
Not used on the wine site yet but coming soon for sure :)
Indeed, very well said Eric. Speaking of consolidation, 2 modules, URL Class and URL icon are slated to be merged into ELF module per this issue.
I think this supports your point greatly—start a new module from scratch, with a clean architecture and then slowly roll other modules into it that help support it, rewriting those implementations to be faster and cleaner too.
I eagerly await releasing version 3 of this module this spring with some of those great features in other modules in it, creating a standard module to work with external links :)
Nice Ted! +1 for the name :). Is this for the wine site?
I like your logic to start a new module and think it makes a lot of sense. You obviously did the research on what is out there and saw that it will be more efficient to build your own based on the needs you have. Taking the extra time to blog about new modules like this and explaining the difference is great for people new and old in the community – this is a huge help that better allows folks to compare a lot of modules that might looks similar at first glance but have their own special details. I think building like this (ie at times just building a new modules even thought there are a lot of other modules that kind of do what you need but not quite) is what is allowing good open source communities to development better ideas faster.
Obviously at a certain point when modules get bigger and the problems they are trying to address need more recourses, there becomes a benifit for consolidation to help better channel community energy, like with with aggregation modules. But the user stories still call the shots in the end of the day, which is why it makes sense to have both simple feed and feedapi continue to be actively supported even thought they ‘both handle aggregation.’
Again, nice work, I look forward to using the module on an op coming project, it is going to be great for an intranet wiki :)
Cool, thanks for the update! Great stuff!
Hi Ted,
Congratulations. Hopefully this module will fill the gap. I am going to try it now.
Thanks for the hard work.
Awesome stuff. Thank you for a great module. Just tried it. Is really a neat solution for handling the flood of menu items in the Administer menu.
Alex
Hmm, yes there are a few ways to accomplish that. Try filing an issue in the Simplefeed queue to get some more help with that.
One more question. Is there a way to skip viewing the node, and instead, go right from the teaser to the external site when the visitor clicks on the title? I’ve tried setting this up in Views, but it’s not working for me. I was able to use the SimpleFeed Feed Item: Article title field to get a link to the original site, but the teaser didn’t show when I used the Node:Body field.
Any thoughts?
Thanks, Lisa G.
Thank you, Ted! I was looking under Administer… never would have found it there!
Thanks again! Lisa G.
Hey Lisa, everything is a node, so just create a new feed node under “create content” and you’ll be good to go.
Hi. I’m having difficulty finding where to enter the URLs for feeds. I must be missing something simple… do you have any documentation?
Thanks Lisa G.
Hi,
I was wondering if you also have a solution for duplicate links in the site?
greetings, Martijn
Hey Eberle, that Alaskan wine place looks pretty sweet and interesting, thanks for the tip!
