Well, I didn’t think I’d have the time to post again, but I actually did, imagine that. So I forgot to mention, two days ago, hanging out at the “office”, Tom Delonge and his new band, Angels and Airwaves, casually walked by our “office”. We later saw them at Wagamama, which I might add, has absolutely delicious Pan-Asian food.
Keeping up with our eclectic dining experiences in London, yesterday we had lunch at this incredibly delicious Thai place, called Busaba Eathai. I had pumpkin curry, a dish that tastes much better than it sounds.
Later yesterday evening we stopped by MTV studios for a taping of 1 Leicester Square, an MTV UK show that closely resembles Last Call with Carson Daly.
When we first arrived, it was quite hilarious to see how intent they were on “loosening” up the audience with free Stella Artois, with everyone in a crowded room. Once taping began, the audience members were herded downstairs to sit in various couches around the stage. Since we were VIP (yea!), we were upstairs watching and hence not taped for the show. It was funny to see how the show was taped, since everything was out of order considerably. It was even funnier to have them tape a few a clips of the audience laughing or clapping, to be used in places to “liven” up the taping if need be.
For guests, we watched a fairly hilarious interview with Noel Gallagher where he kept refering to Tom Cruise as a “weird c*#!,” refusing to say anything different for editing purposes. After that, Boy Kill Boy performed, a band sounding similar, but not as mature, as The Killers. Interestingly enough, the band didn’t actually play their song live, as the acoustics in the room couldn’t accomodate an actual band playing live. Rather, they pretended to play their instruments, as they weren’t actually plugged in and the symbols were taped together. However, the singer’s voice was recorded and overlayed on a prerecorded instrumental version of the song.
Overall, it was interesting to see the taping of the show, but not something I’d sit through again, as standing for almost 2 hours is not too fun!
After that, we went to this sushi place called Itsu, which had various plates of sushi on a conveyor belt that winded all around the restuarant. One would then pick off any plate they wanted to eat and before they left, the number and color of each plate would determine how much you owed. A very cool concept! But the quality was fairly subpar, maybe a bit better than grocery store quality, ah well.
Places like Wagamama, Itsu, and Yo!Sushi (my personal favorite due to the drink robots) made me love London even more, if that’s possible.
Hi, btw. Haven’t talked to you in quite a while. Hope all is well and you’re having a jolly good time over there.
thanks
